• Established in 1992 - Joint Venture with Intel
• Firmed as Unico Technology - 1992 to May 2003
• Firmed as TFS Penang - May 2003 to Oct 2005
• Bought by Kontron Asia - November 2005
Success Journey of KMS
1994
Started business with Intel by manufacturing Pentium motherboard.
All SMT & Test equipment consigned by Intel.
1995
Moved operation from rented building to fully owned facilities at the current location.
With help from Intel, successfully migrated the soldering process from clean to non-clean.
Shipped the 1,000,000th motherboard.
1996
Received the 1st award from Intel - Divisional Award for Outstanding Delivery.
Received ISO9002 Certification.
Fully qualified for Direct-Ship to Intel’s customers.
Hosted IPM for 6 mths in Unico’s facitlities - provided MFG training to IPM.
1997
Official Opening of Unico’s facilities by the Pm of Malaysia.
Successfully bid for Intel’s business through the RFQ process.
Secured contract to produce Intel-licensed motherboard for Tekram.
Started producing Unico’s 800mhz cordless telephone
1998
Purchased all the consigned SMT & Test equipment from Intel.
Successfully shipped the 5,000,000th motherboard to Intel.
Rated “Outstanding” in Intel SBR since Q2 ‘98.
Listed as Malaysia’s Enterprise 50 company.
Achieved 2 million motherboard in annual shipment.
1999
Rated “Outstanding” in Intel SBR for all the 4 qtrs.
Won the Malaysia’s Enterprise 50 Award & received Special Award for Operational Excellence.
Won the Malaysia’s National Productivity Award.
Started producing Unico’s Dect phone for Europe market.
Started motherboard Protobuild business with Intel.
2000
Rated “Outstanding” in Intel SBR for all the 4 qtrs.
Participated in Intel’s SCQI program and won the Intel PQS Award 2000.
Started Buy-Sell Hub business with Intel’s System Mfg Group.
Shipped the 10,000,000th motherboard to Intel.
Achieved the 1mil quarterly shipment in Q3 ‘00.
With close partnership with Intel, successfully overcome the Y2K bug.
Established e-Room & eRS with Intel.
2001
Rated “Outstanding” in Intel SBR for all the 4 qtrs for a total of 14 consecutive qtrs with “Outstanding” rating.
Started IRM-Hub business with Intel’s System Manufacturing Group.
Successfully migrated from MRPII to ERP.
Shipped a record 3 mil Pentium motherboards in annual shipment.
2002
Achieved a new record of 16 consecutive qtrs with “Outstanding” rating in the Intel Qtrly SBR.
Attained ISO9001 : 2000 certification.
Recognition Award from Intel for Outstanding performance in their Buy-Sell IRM Hub Program.
Recognition Award from Intel for Outstanding Quality & Support of the Intel Boxed Desktop Board Program.
Awarded “Best Supplier Award” by Avocent.
Motherboard business in Unico ceased in Q4 ’02 after successfully shipped >15,000,000 Pentium motherboard
