Quanmax is releasing the QBox-1000, a pocket-sized fanless embedded computer with an overall height of only 40mm. The QBox-1000 is based on ultra-low-power Intel Atom N270 processor at 1.6GHz with DDR2 system memory of up to 2GB. With the Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, the QBox-1000 offers vivid images and smooth HD video playback. Its power-efficient design requires only 20W, making the QBox-1000 suitable for low-power embedded applications requiring high-end graphics and space-saving packages - such as entry-level gaming, commercial outdoor broadcasting and POS/POI terminals.

The QBox-1000 is equipped with rich I/O interfaces including one Gigabit Ethernet port, four USB 2.0 ports, an audio connector, an eSATA connector and a DVI-I connector for CRT and DVI output. Storage is provided by a 2.5inch SATA hard drive bay or Compactflash. Advanced network connectivity is also available with the optional Wi-Fi module. The rugged, fanless aluminium case provides not only passive cooling but excellent heat dissipation for quiet operation. Additionally, the cable-less design of the QBox-1000 enhances the system stability and makes it easy for maintenance in harsh environments.

This compact embedded platform can be wall-mount or VESA-mount to simply turn a monitor into a computer.

Seit der Gründung am 24. September 2008 arbeitete die neue Maxdata GmbH am alten Standort Marl an ihren internen Prozessen und der Ausrichtung auf das hin, was sie kann: Server und Desktop-PCs zu fertigen. Jetzt ist sie soweit, loszulegen, wie Frank Kwasnitza, stellvertretender Geschäftsführer der GmbH, im Gespräch mit ChannelPartner sagte.

Von der Eignerin Quanmax mit einer Millionen Euro Grundkapital ausgestattet, beginne man in Marl mit der Serverproduktion, während im österreichischen Linz 20 Mitarbeiter mit der Produktion von Desktop-PCs beschäftigt seien.

Der Schwerpunkt Server sei eindeutig; darauf werde Maxdata sein Hauptaugenmerk richten, so Kwasnitza. "Premium-Server für den Fachhandel" - mit diesem Slogan würde der Manager am liebsten diese noch anzubahnenden Geschäfte überschreiben.

Zurückgemeldet haben sich die Marler bereits durch eine geschickte Aktion im Fachhandel. Sie bieten seit Kurzem dem ehemaligen Maxdata-Fachhandel an, kaputte Serverkomponenten der "Platinum"-Serie zu ersetzen. Zudem bieten sie wieder die Garantieabwicklung an. Dazu sagte Kwasnitza: "Nach drei Monaten Schweigen ein deutliches Zeichen dafür, dass es uns wieder gibt."
Die Resonanz diverser Händler sei ausgesprochen positiv gewesen; die Treue des Fachhandels zu Maxdata sei heute noch gegeben, habe man in Markl erfahren.
